Return to Study 2
I'm a year into my studies, so now seems like a good time to assess the quality of my own advice (see post#1)
If you're thinking of doing a bit more studying, whether a post-grad degree, like me, or something completely different, here are a few things you might find helpful.
1. should you go ahead? do you love the proces of learning?do you get excited when you find out something new?fed up when there's nothing new to learn? If so you've probably got 'learner as one of your talents and you should definitely go ahead.
What do you want from your studies? the knowledge?good grades? just to pass so you can...do whatever it is the certificate will allow you to do? It's best to decide as the answer will make a big difference to how you spend your time. I just want to get the knowledge and to have the fun of learning fascinating new things every day. Of course I want to pass, but actually the paper won't make much difference to my life and I'm not really interested in competing for top marks. So I follow where my interest leads. I spend masses of time on topics that really interest me and only the minimum on bits of the course that don't. If I wanted to get really good grades I'd have to divid my time up so that every topic got equal attention and I'd have to make sure I didn't let myself get side-tracked by fascinating, but not strictly relevant, bits of research. And I certainly wouldn't read books cover to cover: I'd use the index to go straight to the informaion I needed for my essay.
As it is I'm just scraping through, but I'm having s wonderful time and learning SO much and still managing to get my work done and other things too.
