What is positive psychology?
Positive psychology is the new science of human flourishing.
FACT:optimistic people make more productive, more creative! employees. Positive psychologists have proved this.
Traditional psychology has focussed mainly on the negative: on distress and disorders. And It has had some success helping people who are stuck in some way: who are traumatised, depressed, dependent on drugs or alcohol, for example.
The new positive psychology has a different focus. It uses the tools of science to explore what makes life worth living:
- what are the conditions that lead to well-being and success ?
- how can optimum flourishing be achieved?
- for individuals
- for couples, for families,
- for work teams,
- for organisations
- even for nations.
Positive psychologists develop techniques to help people and organisations achieve more flourishing and greater success.
